Appointments to the Board of the Food Safety Authority of Ireland

The Minister for Health invites expressions of interest in joining the Board of the Food Safety Authority of Ireland from suitably qualified candidates who meet the requirements under one or more of the profiles listed below.

Candidates must demonstrate in their application evidence of meeting the requirements under at least one of the following areas: -

Candidates must have significant demonstrable knowledge/experience, at an appropriately senior level, in the public, private or academic sectors, of working on the application of the regulation of food.  Experience derived from working with the Irish food Industry; and/or extensive experience in the area of regulatory environment within which the food industry has to operate is/are particularly desirable.

Risk Management
Experience in the development and/or oversight of risk management systems at corporate level in the regulatory and/or food sector environment.

Food Science
Candidates must have significant senior level academic or professional experience in Food Science in one or more of the following areas:
- food and health;
- food science and technology;
- food safety and regulation;
- supply chain management;
- risk assessment.

Previous board experience

The Minister shall have regard to the desirability for gender balance on the Board as the Minister considers appropriate and determines from time to time when making appointments.
