Appointments to the Board of the Irish Blood Transfusion Service

The Minister for Health seeks expressions of interest from suitably qualified individuals interested in serving as a member of the Board of the IBTS.  Two vacancies on the Board are being filled at this time, one for each of the two areas listed below.  Candidates must therefore demonstrate competence and experience in one of the following areas:


Candidates must have significant relevant professional experience at an appropriately senior level in accountancy and/or audit and hold membership of a professional body.  It is highly desirable that they have previous audit committee experience.


Candidates must demonstrate in their application, evidence of significant professional experience as a current or former practising Barrister or Solicitor and have substantial litigation and/or regulatory legal experience.

Desirable for both roles

- Previous Board membership
- Knowledge of corporate governance/compliance/risk management
- Regulation
- Evidence of an ability to work with others and build consensus with a broad range of stakeholders.

The Minister shall have regard to the desirability for gender balance on the Board as the Minister considers appropriate and determines from time to time when making appointments.
